Dawnguard Renaissance Fest Costume
For the 2023 Ren Fest season, I decided that I wanted to take my costume skills up a level from the last couple years and create a full fledged Dawnguard costume from Skyrim. The Dawnguard are one of the factions from Skyrim that I find the most interesting, and the most fun to play.
Their armor also looks very unique compared to the others found in the game, and I consulted dozens of reference images from the game to create my own rendition of the costume. I based my costume off of the "brown" variant of the uniform, and decided to opt out of the hemlet, as I'm not fond of costumes that I have to keep on my head. I also opted to do a short sleeved variant of the costume that is seen on Gunmar, the Dawnguard's forgemaster and armorer.
Additionally, before I did all of that, I used a combination of quick foam concrete alternative, duct tape and a painters suit to create a mannequin, which I could use to pattern out out my costume on. That was a project in and of itself, and, althought It's not perfect, it turned out pretty good for how DIY it is.
I'm incredibly proud of how it turned out. I sewed the tunic, gauntlet armor and the curiass. The pants were purchased second hand and repurposed, as well as the chain belt, the waist bag and the gloves, which were used as a base for the gauntlets. The armor pieces, the rune axe and some of the decorative pieces were individually sculpted out of EVA foam, then sealed with plastidip and painted with acrylics. The neck piece and the belt buckle were 3D printed and painted.
First Renaissance Fest Costume
In 2021, For the Ohio Renaissance Festival I decided to sew my own costume! I wanted to model it off of Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, or atleast somewhat Ranger-esque.
I was incredibly happy with the result. I sewed a tunic, vest and cloak. The pants, belt and boots were purchased second hand and repurposed.
In 2022, I overhauled the costume a little bit. I sewed a new cloak for it, made of a darker green material, as well as utilizing a liner. I also created some small trinkets to go around my belt, such as a potion bottle, a waterskin and tiny bottles full of herbs and other magical compounds!
Stuffed Animals for Sreya
Over the course of our relationship, I've made my partner, Sreya, quite a few stuffed animals!
First, I created Otto the Octopus, a flippable mood-changing octopus.
Then, I created Beary the Bear, a big teddy bear.
Most recently, I created Lumi the Cat, a black cat.
Pillows
I've also made a few pillows!
I created one for my little cousin, Miles, who loves construction stuff.
I also created a couple space pillows, one of which I gave to my buddy Mike.
